Big John's Bar Gives Singles a Chance to Find Love
Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 9, 2008 -- A sports bar known for a plethora of televisions featuring every sport on the planet fan is now reaching out to a different crowd. Big John's Sports Bar is trying its hand at matchmaking with the help of Cupid.com's Houston speed-dating coordinator Peggy Joy.
Speed dating is an event that gives participants the opportunity to meet as many as 12 opposite sex singles in a specific age bracket while taking part in mini six-minute "dates." After each person is assigned a numbered badge, the women take their seats at designated tables for the remainder of the evening. Meanwhile, men rotate from table to table for each new date. After everyone has met, participants are able to communicate via Cupid.com to see if any matches were made.
"We generally attract single, young professionals from all over the Houston area," said Joy. "Everyone is always well-mannered, well-dressed, and very cordial. It's a fun experience."
Joy began hosting speed dating events at Big John's Bar in early February of this year and has been impressed with the outcome. "It's been a great venue so far -there's ample parking, and they section off a part of the bar just for us. Our Wednesday night events have been especially successful."
Big John's will host a speed dating event for ages 28-40 on Wednesday, April 23, and another for ages 36-48 on Wednesday, May 7. Both events begin at 8:00 p.m. Registration must be done prior to the event to ensure an equal number of men and women and can be completed online at http://www.cupid.com/predating.
In addition to speed dating, Big John's Sport Bar offers karaoke, trivia, Texas Hold 'Em, video games, pool tables, and darts. It also boasts 65 TVs airing pay-per-view and most national and international sporting events.
